Pretty Little Thing Activewear Review

Guess who’s back, back again, with a brand new activewear haul! Activewear hauls are a great way to find gymwear inspiration. That’s why I decided to jump on the bandwagon and give you an insight to what pieces caught my eye from PLT x Sommer Ray collection. Brace yourself lovelies, here’s my very honest Pretty Little Thing Activewear review.

It’s clear to see that Sommer Ray is back making a statement with her second drop of PLT activewear essentials. I’ll admit, some outfits woohed me more than others, like this cute short sleeved crop top. I’m a sucker for minimalistic detail, so this piece (teamed with matching cycling shorts) had potential to look effortlessly stylish thanks to it’s all black theme and flirty white italic logo. However, the dream started to fade away once I tried the two together. I felt more ready to dive into the great barrier reef rather than walk into a gym. My idea of rocking the KimmyK athleisure look was certainly not a reality.

The material is stretchy, a plus whilst exercising, but was tight around my neck which felt uncomfortable and itchy. Being comfortable in what you are wearing at the gym is important for me whilst working out. Even though the shorts felt more snug than the crop top, my gymwear has to support me from top to bottom in order to push myself at the gym.

Overall, brushing the scuba driving vibes away, the two piece cycling shorts trend grows on me but this look from PLT is certainly more fashion than function. If you are looking to blend the rules between gym wear and day wear then perhaps team the shorts with an oversized jumper or crop top with your favourite leggings. That way you can go from sports to street with ease.

Crop top – £12.00     Shorts – £15.00

PLT STONE KEYHOLE SPORTS BRA AND CROPPED LEGGINGS

Like I mentioned before, I rarely wear statement designs with block lettering and patterns because lil ol minimalistic does it for me. Although, for some reason this set stood out for me. Thinking back now I don’t know what planet I was on, I’ll be honest with you lovelies, this was a failure on me! The material felt very cheap, but in it’s defence what do you expect when the whole set comes to £30.00

It felt like I was wearing a very thin swimming costume. Even though I was covered with fabric, I felt naked and very slinky with it on. I had access material bulging at my front which triggered my swimming costume reference. Remember being a kid and finding entertainment by blowing up your swimming costume with water? Simple life back then. Well that’s what this material reminds me of doing.

What I’ve learnt is that there are some items that only the Sommer Rays of the world can confidently pull off and this set is quite frankly a no from me. Again, I don’t know why the style reels me in but I’m smacked in the face but it’s functionality. This set wouldn’t last 5 minutes in a gym session, I have a feeling I would be spending more time adjusting the sports bra and leggings than I would working out.

On a positive note, I was pleasantly surprised by the bra’s keyhole design as this something I’ve noticed before in brands and  always wanted to try. If you are in the small boob club like moi then you’ll be pleased to know that this style of bra helps create a flattering illusion of a voluminous chest, however if only the material was less slinky and more dense you would’ve had yourself a winner.

£15.00 – Sports bra     £15.00 – Cropped leggings
