You heard it hear first lovelies.
Looking into crystal ball…
From two toned leggings and bold cycling shorts, 2018 was an incredible year for activewear. The Athlesiure market is continuing to grow, alongside new designers and collaborations such as Primark’s activewear hit with personal trainer and influencer, Alice Liveing. Let’s not forget the exciting Sport FX’s and Chessie King activewear collection, read more here.
What new activewear styles will you be rocking to boost your fitness? Here are my top activewear trends for 2019.
Whether you are a fan or not, cropped sleeveless tops are making a statement to our gym wear this year. We briefly got introduced to the unique style, thanks to Puma’s collaboration with Selena Gomez and Tammy Hebrow’s activewear brand, SASKI, I predict this design to be appearing a lot more in retail. It’s quirky yet subtle in a sophisticated cut, however depending on your upper body shape I reckon this upcoming trend is best to try on first before buying.
Mesh is back lovelies (did it ever go away?!) I’m not sure but towards the end of the year did anybody else notice the huge influx of mesh items. I’m talking JD’s Pink Soda ankle mesh leggings, Sweaty Betty’s oversized t-shirt and Forever 21’s gorgeous camo grey mesh set. It only makes sense to welcome mesh into 2019 with open arms. Whether you favour a little detail or the full mesh attire, it’s time to boost your workout motivation in mesh style.
I said it before and I’ll say it again; Working out in bodysuits is it a hit or miss? Check out my previous blog featuring the upcoming trend. It’s still an ongoing debate, however Jenna Dewan certainly seems to think it’s a hit by her latest collection with Danskin. The dance-to-gym inspired collection features a variety of bodysuits that can be worn both in the gym and out with it’s breathable power-mesh insets. Feeling comfortable in your active wear is a big key to unlocking confidence at the gym. Will you be rocking bodysuits in the new year?
Here’s another debate for you; Working out in trackies? Even though I love wearing cute activewear, I can’t deny that sometimes I crave putting on an oversized tee and teaming it with my favourite tracksuit bottoms. Is that slob behaviour or I woke up like this kinda style?! Again, I’m not sure but seeing more women and brands creating trackies and lounge wear to the gym, it’s tickling my 2019 trends senses. Chanel Brown pulls it off so well wearing Gymshark.
Will slogans ever go out of fashion? I think not. Although, this year they are bigger and better than ever. Pair this Sweaty Betty number with your favourite leggings or shorts, you can style your slogan tee to any workout and that’s what makes them an necessity to your 2019 gym wardrobe.
