I am hysterical when I see designers and celebrities collaborate with sportswear brands. It’s like Christmas has come early! I love analysing the collaboration; how it represents the brand, what characteristics from the designer is interpreted, will Posh Spice be going on tour? Oh.. too much?
Spice Girl-turned fashion designer, Victoria Beckham, joined forces with Reebok to create a striking collection that screams 90’s baby. “It’s something that’s very specialized—I had to do it with a brand that had the technical experience and the know-how,” VB says whilst shooting in New York City. Functionality, being Reebok’s leading ethos, VB emphasises the importance of wearing activewear that is going to support you during a variety of activities, “I expect it to be able to carry me from the gym through the day,” she says.
With that in mind, here’s how to spice up your activewear with Reebok’s and Victoria Beckham’s collection. People of the world, spice up your life! Had to be done.
Bolton sock trainer
Kicking things off with the eye-catching sock trainer that resembles the 90s Bolton running shoe, featuring a supportive knit sock that rises above the ankle. Designed for everyday wear, the suede overlays and beige tones emphasises VB’s aesthetic relaxed demeanour of streetwear matched with technical performance.
Sleevless crop tops are so in right now and this summerweight sleeveless top is crowning the top spot. VB stays true to her minimal yet luxurious eye for detail by presenting laser-cut armholes for sleek, smooth edges.
Just in case you thought the collection wasn’t 90s enough, hello open leg trousers. This is my favourite piece from the collection. Would I wear them to workout? Probably not. Would I wear them to a 90s themed yoga class? Absolutely! Made of premium wool twill, these snap trousers, feature hidden snaps on the inner leg that can be undone to change up your look.
Doesn’t everyone need a pair of seamless leggings, especially when they come in this gorgeous swag orange. These seamless leggings have a lightweight feel and a close-to-the body fit.
Classic bomber jacket
This bomber jacket resembles VB’s sport to street attire to a T. I really like the volume that the jacket has in the arms, yet nips in fashionably on the cuffs and belly button. The pocket details and black v marked on the back of the jacket brings out an edge to the collection.
