We are living in a crazy time right now where avoiding social contact is the new norm, bulk buying toilet roll is winning and Netflix and chill really means… well Netflix and chill (yawn).
Whether you are in lockdown together or apart, relationships are most likely going to be tested in ways that you didn’t expect. It can be hard to be in each other’s pockets day in day out if you are quarantining together, or on the other spectrum, difficult to spend the time apart. It’s not all doom and gloom, just remember that someone out there is quarantining with your ex soo… It’s time to get creative to keep the spark going, here’s how to keep your man on lockdown, during lockdown.
Communication is key
You don’t need a relationship guru to tell you that communication is key, we’ve heard it millions, but when was the last time you had a real conversation with your partner? Take this opportunity to dive into conversations, get into your feelings (or not), talk about weird things, give scenarios, strike a debate (then again, risky), discover what makes each other’s mind tick.
Try a hobby together
You don’t have to be the best chef to cook, nor the best artist to draw, get your creative hats on and teach each other something or learn something new together.
You won’t have to travel far nor spend a dime for a cute date night in nowadays, so whats your excuse? Make yourself presentable, slip into your favourite number and enjoy your at home date. This can be done virtually as well, House Party is a great app for video calls – just remember to lock the room.
Try working out together
Whether it’s going for a walk, HIIT or trying yoga, get each other’s blood pumping, out of the sheets, by doing some form of exercise together. Working out with your partner can be great encouragement as well as motivation, plus it keeps you fit and healthy that will enhance your overall performance.
Dig up your board games or virtually play online, have fun and get competitive together. It might seem silly at first but you can always find a way to spice up a classic game. For example, writing dares on Jenga blocks, strip poker or role play. Maybe give Monopoly a miss, that game always seems to end in tears.
Are you with your partner or distancing? What things have you been doing to help keep the relationship alive during this crazy time?
Comment below your ideas.
I hope everyone is keeping safe and sane, keep your self-care game strong during this crazy time. Your health is the most important thing.
